SOME NOTES FROM PRODUCTION:

EXTENDED AUDITION PERIIOD:

Final lensing of The Shakespeare Series has been set for the last week of August, therefore auditons have been extended through August 7th, 2014.

There will be a reheasal day prior to shoot-week with full cast as of the demands of the choreograhy are quite involved.

There will be a rider attached to your contract that states that you will engage in social media to help promote the project that you're cast in.  If you do not fulfill that obligation, the producer has the right to terminate your employment thereafter.

If you're submitting for / contracted for regional theatre out of the location shooting zone, please do not apply for this / these projects as it causes too much scheduling conflict for production.

IMDB SEASON ONE EPISODE LIST TO CHOOSE FROM:

URL: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3634224/episodes?season=1&ref_=tt_eps_sn_1

Due to cast members summer stock conflicts we are pushing production of Season One continued lensing of Bobby's Story: The Vine until Sept, 2014.

I'm sending out the last round of callbacks for TRU, ASDS and EAG / MCC / this weekend for taped auditions, but we have extended the auditions to open submission with the same instruction guidelines below until the end of August 2014.

Those auditioning should have a strong improvisation background as the nature of the show is mainly unscripted. Thus the research info. above is crucial.  After you've chosen an episode topic from the IMDB page, you'll make a choice on how your character will interact with Bobby. Are you on his side or opposing?

Next you'll video tape your auditioning telling us why you're there.

DON'T FORGET TO INCLUDE YOUR RESUME (PDF / JPEG) WITH YOUR URL LINKED AUDITION PLEASE.

CHARACTER SELECTION:

Bobby: (CAST)

Bobby, early 30s, from Dade County, Florida. Has recently spent a year in a federal penitentiary for a crime that he didn't commit. He took the fall for his family, who defrauded medicaid.   At Bobby's hearing the judges decide that he is clearly innocent and decide to expedite Bobby's probation but he must be under observation by the court system's appointed therapist for the next six months before his parole is ended. Bobby will encounter a myriad of diverse characters on his journey aided by Dr. Therapist.

Dr. Therapist: (CAST)

Has built a cult following of sorts as being able to heal the seemingly un-healable with his non-traditional approach to mental therapy. A combination of social engagement and artistic emersion therapy. He has worked with celebrities and is well thought of.  Oddly, he often disappears for several months at a time with no one having any idea of where he has been. But we're happy to have him back.

Judge Martin Davis: (CAST)

Has served on the federal bench for 18 years and seen it all. He has taken a particular interest in Bobby's case and assessed that Bobby is innocent and doesn't want to see yet another person's life destroyed by a flawed system. He is slightly hard of hearing but in denial about it. It a ribbing point between him and longtime colleague Judge Feinstein.

Judge Merte Feinstein: (Jewish Judge)

Think Ruth Bader Ginsberg

She has been on the bench for a few years longer than Judge Davis, her capable companion. She enjoys lording this over him at times and teasing him about his hearing. She enjoys playing devil's advocate to Davis on most cases as she does in this one.

Public Defender, Matt Linden : Cast

Prosecutor, Kyle / Kylie Murphy:

A by-product of the system and all that is broken within it. He persists in opposing

Judge Martin Davis' ruling in Bobby's case and will go to any length to stand his resolve.

Process Server (CAST)

Asian, early 20s. His first job by default. Meaning, he was the only one available in the office when the judge signed off on the court order that he must delver to Bobby. He's a bit of a nervous reck and clueless about the job. Bobby has sympathy for the kid and befriends him, to the point that he hangs out almost daily after community college classes. The detective detail eventually get use to the kid and also befriend.

Ken Burns ( CAST)

To portray the noted journalist of various esteemed documentaries. As we've seen the stories characters extol their roles in Bobby's case, we finally meet the journalist that they've been talking to.

Attorney Scottie Brookes (Open ethnicity)

Is assigned to Bobby's case by a wealthy patron who has taken an interest in Bobby's case, and subsequently, Public Defender, Matt Linden's dismissal from the case.  Brookes has been hired as a gift to Bobby via anonymous donor as Bobby's case has become somewhat of a global media phenomenon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

( ALL BY NATIVE SPEAKING ACTORS / CIVILIANS - TO BE CAST: SAG TAFT HARTLEY FOR N/U):

Tape a video improvising: celebrating Bobby's innocence and deneagrating Prosecutor Keane.

- TOKYO
- SPAIN
- ITALY
- FRANCE
- S. KOREA

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JOY:  Bobby's Sister: African American:

Late 20s to early 30s. Sassy and smart. College educated and hardworking.  Joy is sent by her crazy (actually certifiable)  mother to New York after Bobby to bring him back home to a decenting life of crime and poverty. Joy is somewhat stuck in the middle of it all. She arrives in NYC for the first time. Its not a pretty sight.

BOBBY'S MOTHER:

Early 50s, A bit wild and loud. All about the money. Think Atlanta HouseWies

She's the storm that enters that room and ends the quiet.

BOBBY'S GRANDMOTHER: (OFFER OUT)

GREYING TO PLAY LATE 60S

A true matron with a heart of pie. She loves and will do anything to protect her only grandson. That includes from his crazy mother.

Benjamin Brannon: Caucasian:

Male Courthouse Clerk: Early 30s, handsome guy next door in a white collar sophomoric kind of way. He works with Natasha in Judge Davis' office. He is the other end of an abusive relationship with Natasha.  Its been going on for some time and everyone knows about it.  The petite woman physically abuses him in public.  The first time we see Benjamin he has a fading black eye and is a bit jumpy.

And he never goes by Ben. Its a sticking point.

Natasha: Mid 30s: Benjamin's superior and lover.

Caucasian, bookish, a little butch, but cute. More of a tomboy who has one too many brothers. A feminist, conservative. She and Benjamin have opposing views on Bobby's case.

Court Stenographer:

Latina, early 40s.  No surprises early on but we find out that she's much more than she seems. Helpful if you have experience and access to a machine.

BOBBY'S BROTHER DARYL:

Late 20s to 30, notably younger than Bobby and looks up to him. When Bobby went away he was lost. He feels awful about what happened to him. He has a big secret to share with his big bros.

COURT OFFICE

NYPD UNIFORMED court office who is present during Judge Davis' court proceedings with Bobby.
